Morgan was awarded a contract by Thesis Technology Products Ltd to design and develop the CombiPod Thermostation. The CombiPod offers a simple, safe and effective solution to providing hot and cold contrast therapy and has an additional benefit of adjustable compression to the treatment area.
The unit itself does not heat or cool the water, instead hot and cold water are added to separate tanks, removing the requirement for complex heating and cooling systems. The hot and cold tanks are both heavily insulated to maintain the temperature of the water for the duration of the treatment, for which the operating temperature is between 5°c and 10°c for cold water and up to a maximum of 40°c for hot water. The level of compression is controlled by adjusting an outer sleeve using Velcro straps, which can be performed by the wearer or a practitioner, and compression therapy alternates between 0.3psi and 0.7psi.
The CombiPod is supplied with interchangeable limb/body wraps for different applications, including use on the knee, elbow and shoulder, and is designed to support the treatment of: pain management, sporting injuries, post-surgical recovery, swelling/oedema, sprain therapy, inflammation, and arterial circulation enhancement.
